Indeed Mobile App: Feature Addition

Indeed.com mobile app

PROJECT SCOPE
Solo project

OVERVIEW
Indeed.com is an American worldwide employment-related search engine for job listings. As a single-topic search engine, it is also an example of vertical search. Indeed is currently available in over 50 countries and 28 languages.

PROBLEM
As a recent graduate from a UXDi program and job seeker, we need to know what type of companies and industries we want to work for. Indeed does a great job providing relevant job listings, however, is missing an important step in providing the job seeker efficiency when searching for potential companies they want to work for.

For example, after a job seeker has entered their preferences, they are taken to a screen that lists all the positions with just the company name and partial job description underneath - making the job seeker unaware of what industry they are being matched with.

SOLUTION
To include an additional step on the landing page: "what type of industry" - for example, "healthcare"

PERSONA

New graduate, Irie, is looking for a role in a specific industry (healthcare). She would enter her preferences and the desired roles populate with several companies. Some companies are familiar to her and some are not. For example, a UX Designer role populated for the company "Karmic Partners". It didn't state what industry it was under.

For a new graduate, options for the industry is important for an efficient job search.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

I have learned that the slightest details matter and improves efficiency. As a new graduate, myself, we must know what type of industry we want to work in and what type of company. By including an additional step to the job search, it makes the process more logical and productive.
